But there are a few key things to keep in mind when you’re purchasing a fibreglass-reinforced plastic tank. Here are the Dos and Don’ts of an FRP Tank!

Buy from manufacturers that quality test their products to ensure productivity and safety.
Buy from manufacturers that only use CSA and ANSI/NSF certified tested materials.
Understand the design limitations of a storage tank and adhere to them.
Thoroughly inspect new accessories or equipment before installing!
Examine pumps, threads and valves monthly to ensure operational standards.
Weekly inspections of possible air or material leakage are a must!
Plan to store your FRP units on their own, away from other equipment, to avoid damage or cross-contamination, particularly if you’re storing chemicals, the units should be segregated!
All liquid substances must be drained regularly for maintenance, cleaning and inspections.

Never buy from an unreputable source! Buying from a company that isn’t up to date with testing, maintenance and quality will cost you so much more in the long run, potentially including safety.
Don’t guess what the tank is compatible with for chemical storage. If you’re not sure, ask an expert.
Never weld repairs or attach any new or replacement parts with welding. Welding can cause irreparable damage to the composition of the tank and can create leakage problems.
Don’t ever install an FRP tank or FRP storage unit without reinforcement at the base!
Don’t lean materials or equipment against the tank as outside interference can compromise the integrity of the unit.
